Does Hypnosis Really Work?

By | December 30, 2009

Hypnosis does indeed work and is used widely by many therapists to help people overcome phobias, lose weight, stop smoking and discontinue bad habits. Anyone can be hypnotized but some will be more susceptible to this trance like state than others. The hypnotic state is one that is trancelike and the actual word hypnosis is derived from a Greek word meaning ‘nervous sleep’. This is actually incorrect because when a person is hypnotized they are in state of consciousness that is difficult to define. Hypnotized people are aware yet unaware and their minds can be manipulated by the hypnotist. Suggestion is used while people are hypnotized for therapy to quit bad habits smoking, or other healing as mentioned above. So yes, the answer to does hypnosis really work is a positive one.

Why is there so much secrecy around hypnosis?

Many consider hypnosis a form of brainwashing and are totally against any form of hypnosis for this reason. In a hypnotized state a person is not fully in control of them selves and can thus be manipulated. You will also find that although there is tons of information it is difficult to really find out the true ways of learning how to hypnotize people because it can be dangerous in the wrong hands. Underground Hypnosis course are available but they will not come cheap for obvious reasons. It takes dedication to learn hypnosis techniques and this is a skill that must be used responsibly. A master hypnotist can hypnotize susceptible people quickly using underground hypnosis techniques and the average person can also learn self hypnotism to better their quality of life. Considering the above paragraph the answer does hypnosis really work is once again yes it certainly does.

Is self hypnosis effective and what is underground Hypnosis?

Many people have used self hypnosis to achieve their goals in sports, get promotions at work, better their health and well being and improve their relationships.  Underground hypnosis is a combination of hypnosis techniques, NLP Seduction, and asocial engineering that makes it possible to influence people. Underground hypnosis stirred a huge controversy a while ago and this is the reason that it has become a course that only a select few can get their hands on if they know where to find it. This hypnosis technique was also labeled black ops hypnosis, brainwashing, and was even labeled a scam. Those that invested in underground hypnosis will tell you otherwise but will rather keep mum about it. Hypnosis can be used to better your life and if you are shy, lack self confidence or an under achiever then you will do well to invest in learning covert underground hypnosis. Does underground hypnosis really work you will ask. To this question the answer is to find out for your self.

Off the Track Hypnosis

Information on hypnosis is vague and this is how the experts want to make it seem. When you read the many articles on hypnosis they will make it sound like it is not really worth pursuing. This is something they want everyone to believe and they have convinced people that hypnosis is not really something special and useless to the average person anyway. Interesting don’t you think?

Well you have a lot of options in your quest to go from”smoker” to “ex-smoker”. There are several traditional methods you can try to stop smoking. Don’t be discouraged. What works for one person may not be what works for you. There are other options to stop smoking.

A lot of smokers have kicked the habit using less traditional methods. Some of these methods include hypnosis, aromatherapy, or acupuncture. One of the newest ways to stop smoking is an alternative method known as Neuro-Linguistic-Programming or NLP. NLP is a form of psychotherapy that has been practiced for many years.

Why is NLP one of the best ways to stop smoking? NLP has shown to be an excellent method for helping people to break unwanted habits. Some NLP practitioners have found excellent results in helping people to stop smoking. Even more surprising is they found that people who have used NLP to stop smoking have found it a great way to stop smoking because they were able to avoid many of the undesired side effects many smokers feel when they stop smoking.

NLP practitioners have shown that they have helped people to stop smoking without weight gain. Also NLP can help to eliminate the cravings that make many smokers go back to smoking. NLP has shown to be a very effective way to quit smoking because of how fast it works. Many smokers have been able to stop smoking after one short session.

The good news is that NLP benefits can be gained without having to visit a doctor’s office. NLP benefits can be gained in training workshops, videos, books, and even audio programs. Programs like The Quit Smoking Today program use NLP audio files to quickly help people to stop smoking.

If you have not been able to stop smoking using the more traditional methods do not be afraid to try non-traditional methods like NLP. NLP has shown to be one of the best ways to stop smoking. You owe it to yourself to try everything available to kick the smoking habit.

Weight Loss Hypnosis – Is Hypnosis Temporary?

By | December 27, 2009

Is Hypnosis It Temporary? Not only is Hypnosis not temporary, nothing could be further from the truth. But this again is a common myth and misconception. Hypnosis is as temporary as any knowledge that we know and learn. When you learn to ride a bicycle is that learning temporary? Even if you stopped riding for many years, does that mean that it’s temporary? No, of course not! Of course we could choose to ride or not ride, because that is our free will. Again, we need to review that hypnosis is not dangerous. If hypnosis was about taking away people’s choices, that would be dangerous. But by connecting you through many positive responses to the correct behaviors, an effective hypnotist is able to use those good feelings to guide their clients to a healthy and fit new life. For example, when using hypnosis to lose weight the hypnotist will connect good positive feelings to healthier food choices and bad negative feelings to the unhealthy food choices. This is to guide you from your unconscious/subconscious to correct behaviors that will lead to weight loss.Studies Show Permanency of HypnosisThe National Institutes of Health shows over 5000 clinical research studies as of December, 2004 having to do with hypnosis and its benefits currently being conducted worldwide. A study of note published by the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine : JCSM : Official Publication of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, that had a 5 year follow up was “The Treatment of Parasomnias with Hypnosis: a 5-Year Follow-Up Study by Peter J. Hauri, Ph.D., Michael H. Silber, M.B.Ch.B., and Bradley F. Boeve, M.D. This study showed that of the large number of subjects that were symptom-free or at least much improved almost 90% of them maintained the change at the 5 year mark.Free Will vs. Permanent ProgrammingThere is free will in every human being. Experienced and well trained hypnotists create permanent changes in beliefs, behaviors, and perceptions. These permanent changes last as long as their subjects want them to last when instructed so. So while a permanent suggestion is placed into the subconscious, if the subject, through free will, chooses to behave in the old way, this is not an indication that the hypnosis was temporary. It is only the exercising of free will that is evident. Now if the client wanted to behave in the correct way but seemed to be unable to follow through on their wishes by some kind of uncontrollable urge – that is an entirely different response. That is evidence of some kind of feeling based response. Those feelings are our most powerful motivators, so any unresolved feelings or incorrect feelings left in place will assuredly overwhelm the permanent suggestions. It is now proven that it is time for the client to resolve the feelings that are presently dictating his behavior.Becoming Familiar With ChangeThere is also a certain level of familiarity that comes with experience over time. Any time we get something new, it’s newness is it’s most impressive quality. As we get used to it, it’s “newness” seems to wear off. It is probably just as effective as it’s always been, but it just doesn’t have the shine or polish. If a feeling of gratitude were to be connected to a certain behavior that we wanted to perform, then every time we did that behavior we would feel that gratitude. After awhile, that behavior would become habit, second nature, and that level of gratitude wouldn’t seem so special. Now we are ready for the next level of behavior and increased gratitude to continue along our path of growth and experience. So hypnosis is certainly not temporary, nor a temporary fix. It’s meant to move us into the future, onto the path of correct behaviors and more important goals.

What Is The Most Effective Method To Quit Smoking? Hands Down Hypnosis.

By | December 27, 2009

The consequences of smoking are well known. Heart disease, lung cancer, and emphysema are just three of the many possible diseases that smokers become more prone to due to the habit. Most do not smoke out of a desire to get diseases. People smoke because it is relaxing, it is social, and it is also, to a smoker, enjoyable.
Quitting smoking is, according to many, as difficult as quitting more serious illegal drugs. The nicotine is in the blood. Withdrawal can bring on the shakes, headaches, nervousness, and insomnia. Cravings are strong and come long after the initial quitting period. To have the strength to resist these feelings is the difficult part.
Smoking cessation is a billion dollar industry. The products to choose from are vast. Nicotine gum, hypnotherapy tapes, stop smoking groups, and an assortment of books at any bookstore provide many ways to reduce the cravings and ease the withdrawal. Most of these products cost money and it can be hard to make your way through the jungle of stop smoking products.
In 1992 the most comprehensive study of smokers trying to quit was carried out at the University of Iowa. Two researchers compounded the information from many different studies using the data collected from over 72,000 smokers. These smokers lived throughout North America, Scandinavia and Europe. The results were published in New Scientist magazine.
On average, the different quit smoking methods had an average of a 25% success rate. Joint techniques, combining exercise and breathing techniques, acupuncture, and stop smoking groups where participants smoke stale cigarettes in confined spaces did not rise above 30% success rate.
The research project examined the data from forty-eight different hypnosis based studies on quitting smoking. Over six thousand smokers participated in these studies. Hypnosis, compared to the other quit smoking techniques, was off the charts. An average of 80% success rate was seen in the different studies. In contrast nicotine gum provided a 10% success rate. The self-help books achieved 9% change.
Hypnosis is clearly the strongest method for quitting smoking successfully. As smoking cessation can be an expensive endeavour, early investment in a hypnosis programme can be money saving. Research shows that often many sessions are not necessary. The average smoker needs between one to four sessions. A trained and licensed professional is also a key to success.

Hypnosis for Smoking – Become a Non-smoker for Life

By | December 26, 2009

Hypnosis: Become a Non-Smoker for Life!

By Karen Branch, Certified Hypnotherapist

So, you are ready to kick the habit – to become a non-smoker and regain control of your health and your life. Good for you!

Nearly everyone knows that smoking is one of the single worst things you can do for your health. It delivers thousands of toxic chemicals into the body and causes a massive amount of lung and heart disease. It steals away health, time, money and self-esteem. But still, these facts are not enough to make most people quit.

Your conscious mind knows you should quit; this is the part of your mind that knows of the dangers and consequences of smoking. But the conscious mind controls only about 12% of the mind; the other 88% is controlled by the subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind has no reasoning or analytical ability; it is emotional, instinctual and controlled by habit patterns. It runs on the pursuit of pleasure and the avoidance of pain.

And somewhere along the way, your subconscious began to associate smoking with pleasure, relief from stress or boredom, relaxation, socializing and fun. For your subconscious mind, even the thought of quitting becomes uncomfortable and painful.

So an interesting dynamic begins: You decide to quit smoking with your conscious mind, but your subconscious mind thinks this is a terrible idea. After all, you’ve programmed it to believe that smoking does all kinds of wonderful things for you.

It feels threatened, feeling that something important to your life is being taken away.

Then the battle begins between the 12% and the 88% – and guess which one usually wins? Right – the subconscious clobbers the conscious mind and makes it very difficult to stop smoking.

Enter hypnosis. While in a deeply relaxed state of body and mind, you are able to communicate directly with your subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind is very suggestible. It obeys your every command. After all, you programmed it to believe pumping your body full of toxins while smoking was a good idea. Your subconscious mind even began to believe the lie that cigarettes can relax you and make you feel good. That’s how powerful your mind really is! In hypnosis, you begin the process of reprogramming and reversing the pain/pleasure association.

When in the very deeply relaxed state, you are up to 100 times more open and receptive to ideas, images and suggestions. It is an excellent state of mind to program the benefits of being a non-smoker: better health, easier breathing, stronger heart and lungs, smelling fresher and cleaner, saving money, gaining control and self confidence and so much more. Soon, your subconscious mind and conscious mind are on the same page, and you are unstoppable. They both agree becoming a non-smoker is the best decision you ever made!

Stop Smoking Cigarette

By | December 26, 2009

Can you stop smoking cigarette? Many people think that they can simply stop with their own willpower. The problem is this method does not work. Well, it works for a few people. Only 2-5% of people who try to stop smoking with no help are still not smoking after 1 year. That means 95% of people are smoking again at that point. Clearly this is not the desired method to stop smoking cigarette.Other types of stop smoking cigarette aids are nicotine replacement (like nicotine gum and the patch), drug therapy, and support groups. All of these methods have some degree of success…but not much. Support group members are only smoke free after one year 25% of the time. Nicotine replacement has about a 30% success rate and a large number of those people are actively addicted to the replacement. Drug therapy only has a 25% success. These drugs have side effects such as insomnia and anxiety. A small number of people have seizures while on them. The most successful method of all is stop smoking cigarette hypnosis. This method has a 66% success rate after one year. This is clearly superior to all other methods. Hypnosis works by making a person very deeply relaxed. While in the deeply relaxed state the subconscious mind is open to suggestions. Either a therapist or a recording can be equally effective. A therapist is very expensive but a good recording is often only a few dollars. It’s worth a few dollars to stop a habit that will eventually kill you!
